Gloucestershire have confirmed batsman Ian Cockbain will remain at the club until at least 2022 after agreeing to a new contract.

The MCC Young Cricketers' programme graduate has penned a new two-year deal to remain in Bristol.

Cockbain, 33, has enjoyed a fine campaign, scoring 369 runs at a strike-rate of 174.05 across his nine T20 Blast outings to help his side reach the quarter-finals.

Since signing professional terms in December 2010, the right-hander has scored 7,049 runs across all formats.

"I’m glad to be re-signing with Gloucestershire Cricket," the Liverpool-born batsman said.

"It is the club which gave me my first opportunity, Gloucestershire will always hold a special place in my heart. Bristol is a great place and is my home from home.

"I believe I am playing better cricket than I ever have done. This puts me in a really good space now and I am looking forward to the future."

Head coach Richard Dawson added: "I’m delighted that Coey has extended his stay with Gloucestershire.

"He brings experience to the changing room, which he can pass on to younger players, and as seen this season continues to deliver top performances."
