Kent seamer Harry Podmore has extended his contract with the club until at least the end of the 2023 season.

The 26-year-old has proven to be a tremendous signing for the county since joining from Middlesex at the beginning of the 2018 campaign.

The seamer has taken 118 wickets at 23.62 apiece, playing a key role as Kent were promoted back to the top tier of red-ball cricket, before picking up 52 wickets as the club thrived in Division One of the County Championship in 2019.

He also featured heavily as Kent reached the final of the Royal London One-Day Cup in 2018, receiving his county cap at the end of last season, having impressed alongside Matt Milnes and Darren Stevens – the trio took 159 wickets between them in red-ball cricket in 2019.

Podmore said of his new deal: “I’m over the moon to extend my contract at Kent, where I have been lucky enough to call home for the past three years.

“The opportunity for me to grow not only as a player but as a man has been unbelievable and I have seized the opportunity with both hands.

“I feel that Kent is the right place for me to continue my development with an amazing group of hungry, talented players putting Kent back on the map -  as we look to lift some silverware and make history.”

Director of cricket Paul Downton added: “We’re delighted that Harry has committed to the county for the next three seasons.

“He has fitted in extremely well since he joined us at Kent and is now a highly skilled bowler who has become a consistent wicket-taker in Championship cricket. He has also shown his abilities as a lower-order batsman, scoring some vital runs in tight games.

“With hard work we believe Harry will continue to improve and will take further strides towards fulfilling his stated ambition of becoming a Kent legend.”
