NICK FRIEND looks back on the performances of both sides in the fourth ODI between England and New Zealand at Derby
Lauren Winfield-Hill (33): Yet again, an assured start without going on to make a match-defining contribution; few in the women’s game pull the ball better in front of square 5
Tammy Beaumont (16): Not at her best and was strangled down the legside – the kind of dismissal that follows you when short on runs 3
Heather Knight (101 & 0-18): The difference between the teams with a high-class century that clinched the series for her side 9
Nat Sciver (11 & 0-42): Woefully out of form with the bat – she has just 34 runs in six games against New Zealand; bowled tidily enough but possibly not England’s best bet with the new ball in ODI cricket 4
Amy Jones (40): The wicketkeeper kept tidily for the most part and played her part in a hundred-run stand with Knight, before chipping to mid-off 6
Sophia Dunkley (0): Trapped lbw by a ball that skidded through from Satterthwaite - not her finest day of a terrific summer 2
Danni Wyatt (27): Offered England important impetus after two quick wickets - she looks a good fit to be England's finisher for the World Cup 6
Charlie Dean (3-52): More wickets for England’s new off-spinner, including the prize pair of Devine and Satterthwaite; arguably bowled too straight at the left-handers, often sliding down the legside even if that line eventually accounted for Satterthwaite 7
Sophie Ecclestone (0-43): Wicketless through her 10-over allocation for just the fourth time in her ODI career; she was economical nonetheless 6
Anya Shrubsole (2-43): Not at her best on her return after an ankle problem; found the perfect amount of swing to dismiss Down with a beauty 5
Freya Davies (2-46): Bowled her slower ball with plenty of control at the death but struggled to offer much threat beforehand, albeit this pitch had little in it for the seamers 5
Katey Martin made an unbeaten 65 for New Zealand
Lauren Down (11): Cleaned up by a good one from Shrubsole but still far from convincing at the top of the order 3
Suzie Bates (17): Looked in lovely touch before diving too early after being sent back and somehow falling short of her ground 4
Maddy Green (0): Cricket is a funny game; Green was composure personified at Leicester but faced four dot-balls here and spooned her fifth to mid-on without scoring 2
Amy Satterthwaite (54 & 1-34): A fine contribution from the left-hander, who has looked in good nick throughout this series, even if she will have been disappointed not to make more of her position as New Zealand approached the death overs 7
Sophie Devine (41 & 3-55): A fifth score in six games between 28 and 50 that was only brought to a premature end by an lbw that was laughably plumb and used up a review that was optimistic at best; took two wickets late on to create some tension around Derby 6
Katey Martin (65*): A first half century against England for the wicketkeeper in 13 years; played beautifully and timed her charge to perfection at the back-end 8
Brooke Halliday (28): Excellent cameo from the left-hander, who was a thorn in England’s side at times during the return series earlier this year and attacked them once again here, playing the shot of the match with a drive over mid-off in the final few overs 6
Hayley Jensen (0 & 0-32): Bowled tidily without reward for the visitors 6
Hannah Rowe (15 & 4-47): Brought back in to replace Lea Tahuhu, Rowe dismissed four of England's top five but ended up on the losing side 7
Jess Kerr (1* & 0-47): Returned at the expense of Molly Penfold but wasn't as penetrative on a surface that was quite batter-friendly 5
Leigh Kasperek (0-30): Taken down by England, who allowed her to bowl her to just 3.3 overs 3
