The 19-year-old left the Canterbury ground for a picture with fans, breaking social distancing rules and must now self-isolate
Jordan Cox will miss Kent's Bob Willis Trophy match against Middlesex after breaching COVID-19 protocols following the victory over Sussex.
The 19-year-old left the Canterbury ground to have a photo with young fans following the win over Sussex and broke social distancing guidelines in the process.
Cox must now undergo a period of self-isolation and will have to return a negative test for coronavirus before resuming training with the rest of the squad.
Such measures mean he will miss the behind-closed-doors visit of Middlesex starting on Saturday, August 15.
It comes after Cox struck his maiden first-class double century in the hammering of Sussex, and in the process put on an unbeaten club record partnership of 423 with Jack Leaning.
The England Under-19 international said: “I am very sorry that this has happened. I fully understand the consequences, and I want to apologise to everyone.
"I’m gutted to be missing the next match and feel like I have let the team down."
Director of cricket Paul Downton added: "It is unfortunate for Jordan that on the back of an outstanding performance, our team medical protocols were breached.
"We take these protocols very seriously and Jordan has no choice but to go into self-isolation."
