Eight players have joined up with Pakistan Super League sides during a replacement player draft ahead of the tournament opener in Karachi on February 20.

England batsman Dawid Malan will join Islamabad United for the duration of the tournament with Rassie van der Dussen called away for South Africa's upcoming fixtures with Australia, while Dwaine Pretorius' expected involvement in the same series has made room for Lewis Gregory to join Peshawar Zalmi.

Each of the league's six teams have made at least one change to their squads, with Karachi Kings forced into two swaps after Liam Plunkett and Dan Lawrence were ruled out of the entire tournament through injury and England Lions duty respectively.

Plunkett's place will be taken by New Zealand seamer Mitch McClenaghan, while West Indies batsman Chadwick Walton will deputise for Essex batsman Lawrence.

The fifth and final full change comes as Lancashire captain Dane Vilas joins Lahore Qalandars following Lendl Simmons' withdrawal for "personal reasons".

Elsewhere, the West Indies' upcoming ODI tour of Sri Lanka means that Fabian Allen (Multan Sultans), Kieron Pollard (Peshawar Zalmi) and Keemo Paul (Quetta Gladiators) will be unable to join their respective PSL franchises until March 7 at the earliest.

The defending champions will welcome 31-year-old Southern Punjab leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood in Paul's place for his PSL debut, while Wayne Madsen and Carlos Brathwaite round out the changes by covering for Allen and Pollard respectively.

This year's edition of the PSL is set to be the tournament's first to take place entirely in Pakistan, with group games taking place in four venues around the country throughout late February and early March before the final at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on March 22.
