Forfarshire Cricket Club will take part in the tournament in Spain after an agreement was reached between Cricket Scotland and the ECL - the club competition which was launched last year.

Forfarshire are the current Scottish T20 champions, having won the Murgatroyd T20 in 2019.

They will face off against teams from the Netherlands, France, Germany, Denmark and Spain - among other countries - at La Manga Club between May 31 and June 7 this year.

“2019 was easily the most successful season in the history of Forfarshire CC and it is a massive honour for us to represent Scotland in this exciting new competition,” club president Clark McConnachie said.

Cricket Scotland chief executive Gus Mackay said: “We are delighted to announce this partnership which gives our clubs the opportunity to compete with other clubs in Europe.

“The European Cricket League has developed a great reputation and we are pleased to give our clubs in Scotland the opportunity to showcase their skills and demonstrate the growth of cricket in Scotland.”

The winners of the 2020 Murgatroyd T20 will have the chance to take part in the ECL next year, and the opportunity to be crowned champions of Europe.
