The Evening Standard have reported that England coach Trevor Bayliss is set to take the reins of the Birmingham side when The Hundred launches in 2020.
According to the report, Bayliss, who steps down from his England role after the Ashes - having been in the job for four and a half years - is "highly likely" to become the Birmingham side's head coach.
If the move goes through, it could see the 56-year-old reunited with Paul Farbrace, who left his position as England's assistant coach last month to become Warwickshire's director of cricket.

However, the director of cricket's role at each of the host counties is yet to be set in stone.
The likes of Stephen Fleming and Shane Warne are also rumoured to be on the radar as potential coaches of the other seven teams.
The playing conditions for the new competition were confirmed in February.
