Bangladesh backed to create more history over India in T20 series decider

Coach Russell Domingo has hailed The Tigers for their displays following recent controversies - but insists their task is far from complete

Despite having already created one slice of history in claiming their first ever T20 international win over India, it would not be an exaggeration to suggest Bangladesh still have unfinished business during the first half of the tour of their South Asian rivals.

Though The Tigers endured a torrid build-up to the tour they remain in contention to win a first ever bilateral series at the home of Rohit Sharma's side.

Defeat in Rajkot on Thursday followed the momentous seven-wicket success in Delhi, Bangladesh's first ever 20-over success over their local rivals.

India are big favourites to win the series, however, that the tourists remain in the hunt is remarkable given the build-up the team endured prior to leaving home.

The whole tour, which includes three Tests, had been in some doubt after players went on strike amid a row with the BCB. After their demands were met, captain Shakib Al Hasan was then banned by the ICC on anti-corruption charges.

Already underdogs against the best-resourced team in international cricket, Bangladesh stunned onlookers by winning the opening T20.

Though more history is on the line in Nagpur, the team have showed that anything is possible when a strong mental fortitude is combined with ample talent.

India v Bangladesh, 3rd T20I: Match preview

"It has been a tough couple of weeks before this tour, but the players deserve a lot of credit," coach Russell Domingo said.

"The energy and desire they have shown in the last 10 days has been fantastic.

"They were willing to try new things. They are playing against a quality side away from home. If someone said to us two weeks ago that we will be one-all coming into Nagpur, no one would have believed it.

"So we are pretty happy where are, and it is a great opportunity tomorrow. The guys are really excited by it.

"At the end of the day, India are one of the best sides in the world. No one gave Bangladesh a chance, but we think if we play to our potential, we have a chance tomorrow."

And following one of the most remarkable years in international cricket's recent history, it would be fitting if Bangladesh draw a line underneath it with another almighty upset.
