Club cricketers will be allowed to take part in 11-a-side matches when the recreational game returns this weekend.

The ECB have confirmed that there will be no requirement for participation to be limited as part of the sport's comeback, with new guidelines sent out to county boards on Wednesday.

Furthermore, there will be no limitation on the maximum number of overs in an innings, meaning leagues which have traditionally played 50-over cricket will be able to keep their existing formats.

Clubs will be asked to ensure social distancing regulations and good hygiene practices are maintained, however, with much of the ECB's new guidance relating to handwashing, equipment sharing and travel.

The government advice currently stipulates that members of separate households should not share a vehicle unless absolutely necessary, while there is an increased risk of Covid-19 transmission via the sharing of helmets and gloves.

Detailed guidelines will be published by the ECB on Thursday, following a request from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to delay their release until after the publication of the government's sport-wide advice.

Advice relating to the All Stars Cricket programme is expected next week.
