Eight Royals batters were dismissed for single figures, including both openers, as the franchise slumped to the second-lowest total in their history
Jaipur: Royal Challengers Bangalore 171-5, Rajasthan Royals 59 - Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 112 runs
Rajasthan Royals' hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the IPL are in tatters after they suffered an embarrassing 112-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The home side were skittled out for just 59 – their second-lowest total in the IPL – and have now lost six of their past eight matches after beginning the tournament with four wins from five.
With one game remaining, they sit sixth in the table, one point outside of the top four. However, every side ahead of them – including fifth-placed RCB – has two matches still to play.
Chasing 172, the Royals were in deep trouble inside two overs, with Mohammed Siraj removing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Wayne Parnell accounting for Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.

And 7 for 3 quickly became 31 for 6 at the end of the seventh over. Joe Root made 10 before being trapped lbw by Parnell, with Michael Bracewell accounting for Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel either side of his exit.
Shimron Hetmyer smashed the next six deliveries for 19 runs to give the Royals fans something to cheer about, albeit briefly as Ravichandran Ashwin was run out at the end of the over.
The West Indian's quickfire 35 (19) was brought to an end by Glenn Maxwell in the 10th and within four balls of his departure, the game was over, with Karn Sharma wrapping up the win for RCB with two wickets in three balls.
In all, eight Royals batters were dismissed for single figures, including both openers for two-ball ducks, while Parnell returned figures of 3 for 10.
Earlier, RCB had survived their own mini-collapse to post 171 for 5. The visitors collapsed from 119 for 1 to 137 for 5 following Faf du Plessis' dismissal in the 15th, but his half-century together with runs from Maxwell (54 off 33) and Anuj Rawat (29 not out off 11) ensured they set a competitive, and ultimately match-winning, target.
