Hampshire have announced that Tom Alsop, Joe Weatherley, and Brad Wheal have all signed new contracts with the county.

All three have extended their current deals which were due to expire at the end of the 2020 season.

Both Alsop and Weatherley came through the Hampshire youth setup, with the former making his first-class debut in 2014, and the latter debuting in 2016.

Alsop said: "It’s fantastic to get that security and know that my future is here at my home Club for at least the next three years. Winning a trophy and being part of a strong Championship side in 2018 was great and it’s been nice to play and be able to contribute with the bat and with the gloves."

Weatherley was also overjoyed to sign a new contract with the county, saying: "I’m delighted to extend my contract here at Hampshire. It’s been widely talked about that last year was a difficult one for batting but it’s been a summer I look back on and I feel I learned a lot in that time.

"Following on from the success we had in the One-Day Cup, I’m really looking to continue building on that and that’ll be a key focus for myself and the team over the next couple of years.”

Wheal joined Hampshire in 2015 having moved to the UK from South Africa, and has gone on to make 16 appearances for Scotland across both white-ball formats. His 2018 season started well but was cut short by a back injury in June.

He commented: "It’s obviously been a frustrating year in 2018 but to be given this opportunity to continue working on my game here at Hampshire is great. There’s a lot of competition between the bowlers heading into next season and it’s a good opportunity, having recovered from that injury, to try and force a way into the first team in 2019."
