Yorkshire Vikings' meeting with Derbyshire Falcons in the T20 Blast has been rescheduled to avoid a clash with the World Cup semi-final between England and Croatia.

The two teams were due to meet at Headingley on Wednesday evening but, following the national football team's progression to the last four of the tournament in Russia, the decision has been taken to find a new date.

The encounter will now take place on Monday, July 30 with a 6.30pm start.

A Yorkshire statement read: "Following England’s progression to the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup, The Yorkshire County Cricket Club believe that it is in the best interests of the spectators to reschedule the fixture.

"The decision has taken into consideration travel advice for the Headingley area on Wednesday night."

The news will delight Yorkshire seamer Jack Brooks, who urged the ECB to change the date of the game following England's victory over Sweden in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Brooks wrote on Twitter: "Dear @ECB_cricket please reschedule the time for Wed T20 v Derby so we can all watch football come home. Kind Regards, Everybody in Yorkshire & Derbyshire. #itscominghome".
