The former Australia international is regarded as a crucial retention by the Renegades as they look to reshape their squad after three consecutive wooden spoons
Shaun Marsh has signed a two-year contract extension with Melbourne Renegades, meaning he could still be playing in the Big Bash after his 40th birthday.
The Renegades are currently undergoing a clear out after collecting their third consecutive wooden spoon, with bowler Cameron Boyce one of the first to be released.
But despite missing the first half of BBL11 through injury and making just seven appearances, Marsh is deemed a crucial retention for the new-look Renegades.
The 38-year-old, whom Perth Scorchers dispensed with three seasons ago, has scored 963 runs in 31 appearances for the Renegades, placing him fourth on the team’s all-time run-scoring list.

In total, he has scored 2,398 runs at 39.96 in 68 Big Bash appearances and lifted the trophy with the Scorchers in BBL03, BBL04 and BBL06.
Commenting on his Renegades future, Marsh said: "We are going to be working really hard over the next 10 months to turn things around.
"There’s a big challenge ahead of us, but we have a close-knit group of players and coaches who are united in the belief that we can turn things around next season."
General manager James Rosengarten added: "He’s one of the competition’s best batters and again highlighted how important he is to our side through the back half of the season.
"With Shaun now signed up alongside the likes of Aaron Finch, Kane Richardson and Nic Maddinson, this provides us with a core group of senior players to reshape our list around for BBL12 and beyond."
