We take a look at the historic figures ahead of the first day of the Brisbane day-night Test to keep you ahead of the game
After a whirlwind of a Test in Perth which led to a chastening defeat for England, the Ashes moves on to Brisbane and The Gabba.
We've teamed up with Betfair to give you all the stats you need to know for each day of the series.
Among all the other unwanted records to befall England in the opening bout, Ben Stokes became the first Test captain to lose a game after winning the toss at Perth Stadium.
He’d clearly studied past form though, as skippers opting to bat first there had a 100% record up to that point.
In the most recent 20 Tests at Brisbane, 15 captains have won the toss and batted, with the other five choosing to bowl.
Of those fixtures, the side batting first have won nine and encounters and the side batting second have triumphed in eight.
In that time, England have been the most frequent opponent for Australia, with the home side winning four of those encounters and the other ending in a draw.
In fact, the Australians have lost only two of those 20 games, backing up the reputation of “The Gabbatoir” for being something of a fortress for them in home summers.
