WICKET - Kent v Essex

Kent all out for 101 and Essex will need 55 runs to win after lunch. Matt Coles was last man to go, checking his drive against Maurice Chambers and chipping a catch to a diving Harbhajan Singh at short mid-wicket. Chambers finished with 4-31 while Napier and Singh bagged three apiece for a weakened Essex attack. Kent captain Rob Key then duly presented Coles with his county cap, together with Sam Northeast.
