Close Of Play - Kent v Essex

Essex reach 14 without loss in the nine overs through to the close, so go into day two facing a deficit of 212. Kent were dismissed soon before tea for 262 with Napier, Masters and Chambers bagging two apiece. Only Michael Powell, with a patient 62 in almost three hours, posted a half-century for the Hop County.
