Result - Essex v Hampshire

HAMPSHIRE WIN BY 2 RUNS. Adam Wheater's remarkable hitting almost won it against the odds for Essex but, at 357-9 and on 98, Wheater tried to hit the penultimate ball of an over by James Tomlinson over long on for six and was caught there by Ervine. He held his head in his hands, not believing what he had done. But, from 317-9, he had batted brilliantly to get Essex so close. Wheater 4x6 and 12x4 from 111 balls.
