Sales and Newton set for Northants return
By Paul Bolton
Northamptonshire batsman David Sales is set to make his first County Championship appearance in more than seven weeks against Glamorgan at Wantage Road tomorrow.
The 34-year-old former England Lions international pulled up while taking a sharp single in the match against Gloucestershire at Northampton in late May and he missed the entire Friends Life t20 campaign.
Sales is due to test his injury in tonight’s Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Derbyshire under the Wantage Road floodlights and provided he suffers no adverse reaction he will play against Glamorgan tomorrow.
Batsman Rob Newton is also in line to make his first County Championship appearance in two months having recovered from the broken wrist that he suffered against Kent at Canterbury.
Newton has eased himself back into action with appearances in the Friends Life t20 and Northamptonshire’s second team in the past month.
