Leics look to offload Malik and Du Toit
By Paul Bolton, County News Correspondent
Leicestershire have made seamer Nadeem Malik and batsman Jacques du Toit available for loan for the rest of this season after deciding that they will not be offered new contracts when their existing deals expire in September.
Malik, 29, is in his fifth season at Grace Road having previously played for his native Nottinghamshire between 2001 and 2003 and again on loan in 2007 while he was with Worcestershire.
Du Toit, a 32-year-old English-qualified South African, played first-class cricket for Easterns between 1998 and 2005 before he moved to England. He played club cricket in Cambridge while qualifying as English and joined Leicestershire in 2008.
Although Du Toit was a member of Leicestershire’s Friends Life t20-winning side last August he has struggled to hold down a regular first team place this season. Malik has also been in and out of the first team this season and is now seeking his fourth county.
