Notts bring in White for absent Patel
By Dave Bracegirdle
With Samit Patel away on England duty, Nottinghamshire are set to include Graeme White for the Friends Life t20 match against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Friday (22 June).
The left-arm spinner is set to feature for the first time in this season’s competition, with Luke Fletcher and Scott Elstone also included in the travelling party.
Fletcher hasn’t played since an LV= County Championship match against Worcestershire, at New Road, in April but has recovered from a knee injury and is now in contention for a place in the pace attack.
“We couldn’t have done any more than we have in our matches so far, where we have taken wickets at key times and batted well,” said Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell. “We have chased low totals though and we will certainly face bigger challenges if we are going to progress to the quarter-finals.”
After facing the Red Rose county in Manchester, Notts head across the Pennines to play the White Rose, when they meet Yorkshire in Scarborough on Sunday (24 June).
Newell feels this could be a key weekend in his side’s hopes of remaining top of the North Group. "If we can win two more away games we will be very well-placed to qualify from the group, with four home matches at Trent Bridge still to come."
