New scoreboard relief for Worcs fans
By Paul Bolton, County News Correspondent
Spectators at Worcestershire’s New Road headquarters should have less difficulty in following what is happening in the middle for the rest of this season following a deal with Elonex Sport to provide a new main scoreboard.
The previous electronic board has worked only intermittently over the past two seasons and conked out altogether before the recent County Championship match against Somerset.
After attempts to repair the board proved fruitless Worcestershire have agreed a five-and-a-half year deal with Elonex, who are based locally at the Worcester Warriors rugby stadium at Sixways.
The new board has a 30-square metres LED screen which not only presents the scores but also has the potential to be used to show replays, highlights, statistical information and adverts.
“We are delighted to be working with Elonex Sport and hope that our new association and introduction of a new LED screen as our primary scoreboard, will over time, allow us to enhance the spectators experience at all forms of cricket, whilst creating additional revenue generating opportunities that not presently available to the club,” said Worcestershire chief executive David Leatherdale.
"Elonex Sport comes with a wealth of experience in the digital world and we look forward to working with them over the coming years as we continue to develop our New Road ground."
