Somerset return to Bath
By Richard Latham
Somerset will be returning to Bath this season, with a YB40 match against Yorkshire being held at the Recreation Ground on Thursday August 15.
The Bath Festival had been a well established date on the county's calendar until last season when the very wet weather managed to do what only two World Wars had previously done - force the cancellation of Somerset’s annual appearance in the city.
There was simply not time for groundstaff to prepare an adequate pitch so the proposed game was switched to Taunton.
Supporters of the Festival will therefore being hugely relieved at its reinstatement, having seen the number of fixtures staged there reduced in recent years.
Somerset will also be heading south for a fixture in Cornwall this summer. As part of the Cornish Cricket Festival, the club will play their away fixture against Unicorns in the YB40 competition at Truro CC on Friday June 14.
This will be the first time that Somerset have played a match in Cornwall since the two counties met in a T20 challenge match in August 2008.
