Contract extensions for Hampshire quartet
By Bruce Talbot
Hampshire captain Jimmy Adams is one of four homegrown players to have signed contract extensions. Adams, Liam Dawson and Chris Wood have all agreed deals until 2015, while James Tomlinson has committed until 2014.
Hampshire manager Giles White said: “All four have come through the Hampshire system and have an important part to play if we are to build on the success of 2012.
“Jimmy and Tommo are both selfless, committed cricketers who put the team first. They continue to be great role models and it is good news that they have extended their stay.
“Equally, Liam and Chris are young all-rounders with real potential and, with continued development, have the opportunity to become significant contributors in all forms of the game.”
Assistant coach Craig White has also agreed to stay until the end of 2014 following his successful first year at The Ageas Bowl. The former England all-rounder said: “I’m thrilled to sign a new two-year deal.
"The team’s success in two competitions meant I really enjoyed my first season at Hampshire and it was an easy decision. I look forward to hopefully enjoying more success over the next few years.”
Meanwhile, Hampshire have arranged three two-day pre-season friendlies. They will host Kent and Surrey on March 28-29 and April 4-5, either side of a visit to Sussex on April 1-2. Hampshire begin their season at home to Leicestershire in the LV County Championship on April 10-13.
