Extended contracts for Warwickshire pair

By Paul Bolton, County News Correspondent

Warwickshire have signed up all-rounder Steffan Piolet and seam bowler Tom Milnes on extended contracts. Piolet, a former Sussex academy player, has committed himself to Warwickshire for two more years and Milnes, a product of the Berkswell club and the academy at Edgbaston, has signed a three-year extension.

Piolet, 24, took ten wickets on his first-class debut against Durham UCCE in 2009 but has since been used mainly as a one-day specialist. Milnes, 20, is a former England Under-19 player who made his LV= County Championshop debut against Durham at Chester-le-Street in June.

Warwickshire’s Second XI coach and academy director Dougie Brown said: “Both Steffan and Tom are good athletes, great team men and as young players have excellent potential to play a key role in the team for many years to come.

“Steffan has put in some excellent performances in limited overs competitions and was one of our best bowlers in last season’s Friends Life t20 with an economy rate of just a shade above a run-a-ball.

“While being an excellent death bowler and hard-hitting batsmen, there is a great opportunity for him to develop his game further over the coming months and try to force his way in to the LV= County Championship side.

“Having been with the club since the age of ten, Tom is Warwickshire through and through and everyone was really pleased for him to make his County Championship debut earlier this season. He’s worked incredibly hard to become a key member of our seam attack and is certainly an exciting prospect to follow in the years ahead.”
