Sussex sign up for more Beer

By Bruce Talbot

Leg-spinner Will Beer has signed a new two-year contract with Sussex that ties him to the county until 2014. The 24-year-old, a product of the county's youth system, played 17 one-day games for Sussex last season and took 17 wickets.

County Championship appearances have been rare but club coach Mark Davis hopes Beer can push on in the next two years and become an integral part of the team across all formats.

Davis said: "Will has steadily improved year on year and hopefully this contract will allow him to develop further and become the complete player we think he can be."

The futures of all Sussex's out-of-contract players have now been sorted but, with four leaving the staff and only Rory Hamilton-Brown recruited, there is scope for further strengthening of the squad before the 2013 season.
