Adams hails Shahzad signing
By Graham Hardcastle, in South Africa
Nottinghamshire spearhead Andre Adams has hailed the county's recent signing of England hopeful Ajmal Shahzad on a three-year contract. Shahzad arrives at Trent Bridge after officially leaving Yorkshire, although he spent the majority of the 2012 season on loan with Lancashire, who were relegated to the LV= County Championship's second tier.
The 27-year-old's arrival in the East Midlands goes some way to making up for the departure of Darren Pattinson, who has returned to Australia and no longer qualifies to play for Notts as a domestic player.
Adams, who took 54 Championship wickets in 2012, is currently playing in the Champions League t20 competition for Auckland Aces in South Africa. His team claimed the prized scalp of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders in Cape Town, and he said afterwards: "I'm really excited about that signing. For me, Ajmal's a great acquisition for us. "I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got. He seems to want to bowl all day.
He bowls with good pace, and he's got skills in the one-day game as well. He's another guy with a hungry attitude. We've got some good young bowlers at Notts, but to have a senior bowler come in - one who can take wickets - is exciting."
Shahzad played the last of his eleven one-day internationals for England in March of last year. He has also played one Test match and three Twenty20 internationals.
