Styris signs to return to Sussex

By Bruce Talbot

Sussex have signed Scott Styris for their 2013 Twenty20 campaign. The 37-year-old New Zealander made an impressive contribution to the Sharks' run to their third appearance in t20 finals day this season, including a 37-ball hundred as they recovered from 3 for 2 to beat Gloucestershire in the quarter-final at Hove in July - the third-fastest century in the global history of the format.

It also won him the Walter Lawrence Trophy for the fastest hundred of the domestic summer. Styris finished with 204 runs in the competition, took seven wickets and proved a popular member of the dressing room.

Styris said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Sussex team this year and we feel we have unfinished business in this competition. I want to contribute next season and hopefully we can go all the way to securing the silverware.”
