Players sky-dive for Leicestershire's benefit
By Paul Bolton, County News Correspondent
Leicestershire players Josh Cobb, Greg Smith. Michael Thornely and James Sykes have thrown themselves out of a plane, not in disappointment at a season of modest achievement at Grace Road, but to raise funds for two worthy causes.
The quartet joined Leicestershire chairman Paul Haywood and members of his family in a sponsored sky-dive at Langar Airfield in aid of Leicestershire’s Club Benefit year and the Rainbows Children's Hospice.
"It was a fantastic experience. We sky-dived in groups. Everybody had the same feeling of exhilaration and satisfaction afterwards. The emotions and views while you are floating to earth will be remembered by us all,” said the intrepid Haywood.
"The banter on the ground before and after each group had sky-dived was funny and the support of friends and family who came to watch was brilliant. I would like to thank the players and ladies who took part. The two 17-year-olds were so calm, as were the other ladies. Well done everybody.
"It is still not too late to sponsor the sky-divers as they are all on twitter or facebook. It can also be done on the club website. Thanks to all that came to Langar."
Sponsorship of the Leicestershire sky-divers can still be made via a link from the county’s website - www.leicestershireccc.co.uk
