Jordan released by Surrey
All-rounder Chris Jordan has been released by Surrey, and is looking to revitalise an initially promising career with another county.
His departure adds to the sense of change at the Oval at the end of a traumatic season for the club, following the news that Rory Hamilton-Brown is also looking towards pastures new as he continues to try to recover from the loss of his close friend, Tom Maynard, who died tragically in June. Matt Spriegel, the all-rounder, has already announced he is leaving to join Northamptonshire.
Jordan, 23, joined Surrey at the age of seventeen after impressing in the first team at Dulwich College, making an immediate impact at the end of the 2007 season.
He scored 1,044 first-class runs and took 97 wickets for Surrey during his six years with the club, but has recently struggled to make an impact at first team level.
Jordan said: “I am very grateful for all the opportunities I have been given with Surrey. I will always remember my time at the club very fondly and wish them all success for the future. I remain a very ambitious cricketer and now very much look forward to continuing my cricketing career elsewhere.”
Surrey team director Chris Adams added: “Chris is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regular first-class cricket if he is to fulfil his ambitions in the game, and therefore it is in his best interests that he looks at opportunities elsewhere.”
