Win £1,000 for your club
By Sanjay Dove
Clydesdale Bank, sponsors of the CB40, are giving away £1,000 to clubs who can impress their illustrious judging panel with some imaginative appealing.
Entrants for the Howzat competition have to upload a video of their best appeal, which is then put in front of the judges – Alastair Cook, Paul Collingwood and Alec Stewart – to decide whether it is worthy of winning the £1,000 prize.
Clydesdale Bank have already rewarded several clubs with £1,000 each and, in order to join them, you'll need to make your club's appeal stand out from the crowd – make sure you keep it to under 30 seconds though.
One of the winners, Eastbourne CC in East Sussex, impressed the judges by getting their colts involved. Eastbourne chairman Ian Fletcher-Price said the kids loved the experience.
"It was a lovely day and the kids had their usual hour-and-a-half training session," he says. "Afterwards, they got stuck in and lay on the ground to form the word 'Howzat' while Sara Lord, their coach, filmed it."
The £1,000 will be spent wisely: "We'll be buying a load of Kwik-Cricket stuff including cones and nets and we'll make sure the money goes to the right people. It'll help the kids massively. The nicety of getting extra kit like this makes all the difference. Getting the kids to have a good time often revolves around what equipment is available so this will really help."
The closing day for the competition is September 22 so for your chance to win £1,000 for your club, enter
