Notts delight as Adams extends contract
By Dave Bracegirdle
Andre Adams has signed a one-year extension to his Nottinghamshire contract, keeping him at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2014 season.
The 37-year-old seamer, who leads the list of wicket-takers in the LV= County Championship ahead of this week's matches, has been a pivotal member of the side since his debut for Notts in 2007.
Mick Newell, Notts director of cricket, was understandably delighted to retain the services of his strike bowler. "Andre has been our best bowler for some time now and his performances this season more than merit an additional year on his deal," said Newell.
"We will preserve him for four-day matches because that's where he's at his best and having a bowler of his quality fresh for games in our priority competition is a key part of how we play."
Adams claimed 68 Championship wickets to help his county to the 2010 title and 67 last year. This season the former New Zealand international has already taken 54 wickets at an average of 17.64, despite missing a couple of matches through injury.
