Sussex allrounder claims his best figures of the tournament so far

Jofra Archer continues to take the Big Bash by storm with another match-winning performance for the Hurricanes.

Hobart Hurricanes 183 for 5 (Short 96, Doolan 29) beat Adelaide Strikers 176 for 6 (Ingram 66, Head 44, Archer 3-15) by seven runs

The Sussex allrounder removed Alex Carey in his first over and claimed the wicket of Strikers skipper Travis Head before nailing the final over to see the Hurricanes home.

Adelaide needed 13 from it (12 for a Super Over). Archer struck Jake Lehmann full on the pads with his first delivery to claim his third wicket. His second ball went through to the keeper Matthew Wade who completed a sharp run out leaving the Strikers requiring 13 from four. The new recruit would only concede five in a superbly-executed final over.

Archer has taken eight wickets for Hobart in four matches. Only three bowlers - Andrew Tye (13) Dwayne Bravo (11) and Ben Laughlin (9) have claimed more in the same number of games.

D’Arcy Short (96 off 58) was the star of the show with the bat. After scoring 97 against Sydney Thunder three days ago, his 96 against the Strikers made him the first in Big Bash history to hit back-to-back scores in the nineties.

Marcus Stoinis’ 99 for the Stars is the only higher score in this year’s competition.
