ASHES NEWS: Finn out of England squad with knee injury

In another big blow to England's hopes Down Under, the seamer has been ruled out of the tour

England's bowling attack in Australia has been further weakened by the loss of Steven Finn.

The Middlesex seamer has been ruled out of the tour after a scan revealed he sustained knee cartilage during training on Thursday.

He is due to return home in the next 48 hours to meet with specialists, and could require surgery.

England say they will name a replacement 'in due course'.

There is better news about off-spinning all-rounder Moeen Ali, however.

The Worcestershire man missed training on Friday with a side injury but is expected to recover in time for the pre-first Test warm-up in Townsville.

"We'll probably leave him out of the first game as a precaution, but he'll play the last game before the first Test," head coach Trevor Bayliss told BBC Sport.
