This week saw international cricket in Pakistan as Sarfraz Ahmed’s team took on a World XI in three ODI’s at Lahore. The World XI - captained by Faf du Plessis and featuring Hashim Amla and Tamim Iqbal among others - lost the series 2-1.

Championship hundreds scored by Kumar Sangakkara this summer.

After a spell in the Caribbean Premier League – where he hit 379 runs at 42.11 for Jamaica Tallawahs - Sanga returned to London and county cricket with the ease of a laid-back mallard to water. Sangakkara contributed 164 as Surrey posted 592 against Yorkshire. In 12 knocks the Sri Lankan has scored 1,250 runs at 113.64 with a highest score of 200.

It was the first time Essex have won the County Championship in 25 years and their seventh win in total, having done so on six occasions between 1979 and 1992.

The number of bowlers to have reached 50 Championship wickets in Division One this summer. Both of those are in the Essex ranks, Jamie Porter (64) and Simon Harmer (63) lead the way.

After passing 500 Test wickets and claiming career-best figures of 7 for 42 at Lord’s, James Anderson has replaced India’s Ravindra Jadeja as the No.1 Test bowler in the ICC rankings.

Jimmy took 39 wickets this summer, only Jim Laker (46) has taken more in a home season for England, back in 1956.
