Malinga, conspicuous with his side-arm trebuchet action and two-toned bouffant, claimed his fourth international hat-trick – his first in T20Is - in Sri Lanka’s T20I match v Bangladesh at Colombo.

On the eve of the County Championship season getting underway it was revealed that Leicestershire would be deducted 16 points in relation to disciplinary offences. Five in a 12-month period have resulted in the automatic penalty.

Bowler Charlie Shreck has been suspended for two matches after being found guilty of using “offensive or insulting language” in a match against Loughborough MCCU.

Leicestershire skipper, Mark Cosgrove – leading in all five matches in which the discretions took place – has been handed a one-match ban.
