Match Drawn - Nottinghamshire finish the season in a disappointing fifth place after they failed, by two wickets, to bowl Warwicks out on the last day. The new champions ended on 290-8, having been set 421 to win.

Notts have ten overs (and a second new ball) in which to take 2 wkts to finish in third place - Warwicks 244-8

Warwicks are now 199-5 with Woakes 68 and Blackwell 30. Their journey down to Lord's might have to wait a while as Notts will want to go to the end in search of these last five wickets.

Last knockings of the season and there's still plenty to play for with Notts needing to claim five wickets to pick up the sizeable third placed prize money. Warwicks 178-5 with 30 overs to go.

Warwicks are 64-3 with Luke Fletcher's 3-20 accounting for Chopra, Maddy and Troughton. The visitors still need a nominal 357 more but the appeal of an early dash down to Lord's to prepare for the CB40 Final would appear more likely than a length dig in.

Luke Fletcher has 3, Chris Read has 3, as Jim Troughton edges behind and it's now 32-3. The champions aren't going to end the campaign with a win here - although Rikki Clarke is out there now for a bit of a hit.

Darren Maddy goes ct behind off Luke Fletcher, who has 2-12 after earlier finishing on 42 not out. Warwicks are 30-2 and their victory target of 421 looks a long way off.

Notts declare on 469-8 with Paul Franks undefeated on 86 and Luke Fletcher on 42. They batted for just four overs this morning, leaving Warwickshire to 'chase' 421 in a minimum of 90 overs.

Barring a sudden change of heart, Notts are batting on this morning, on 444-8, with Paul Franks on 76 not out and Luke Fletcher on 27 not out. Lead is 395.

Dry start to the day and we'll kick off on time. No confirmation but suspicion is Notts will bat on for a few mins, potentially allowing Paul Franks (76*) to score his first CC ton since 2004.

Ben Phillips is caught behind off Darren Maddy for 38, after a stand of 91, with Paul Franks. Notts are 388-8, lead by 339.

Notts now lead by 323 with Franks and Phillips still together. 372-7 with 15 overs left today.

After a 20 minute delay we are going to restart at Trent Bridge - no overs lost, with Notts resuming on 329-7.

RAIN STOPS PLAY Out of nowhere a sharp shower hits us. The umpires allowed play to continue for an over but in fairness to both teams the priority is clearly to get the covers on and the pitch covered - Notts 329-7, lead by 280

Notts are 302-7 - having lost a little momentum after the fall of Chris Read's wicket. Steven Mullaney then fell for 94 and Graeme White followed just before the interval. Lead is 253 - be an intersting chase for the new champions however many are set.

Chris Read dabs thr ball to third man for four to reach 23 and 1,000 fc runs for the season. Notts 219-4, a lead of 170

Notts take their lead past 150 as Steven Mullaney hoists Jeetan Patel four rows back into the pavilion -  a mighty blow. 205-4

Cagey little passage of play with Notts now on 179-4, with a lead of 130. Read has 7 Steven Mullaney is on 16

Worcestershire 39-2, with Mitchell well caught at second slip by Hildreth off Rehman for 18 to give the Pakistan left-arm spinner his tenth wicket of the match. There will surely be more this afternoon as the visitors battle to avoid an innings defeat.

Notts are 168-4 at the interval, an overall lead of 119. Warwicks dragged themselves back into this with three wickets in the second hour of the session after the openers had put on 88 for the first wicket.

A 50th first class wicket of the season for Trego as Hughes, on four, gets an edge through to wicketkeeper Snell. Trego reacted like a goalscorer and was engulfed by team-mates. The popular all-rounder received a warm ovation. Worcs 13-1, trailing by 287.

Yorkshire, who could achieve promotion today have added one run in four overs this morning  and are 45 for 3.  No anticipated problems with the weather today.  

Good morning from a bright and sunny Trent Bridge. This match is intriguingly poised with the scores absolutely level after the first two days.

Play has been called off for the day after a long fight against the inevitable. "Possibly a passing shower," the forecasters said. Hopefully it has now passed and will leave us to enjoy the last 2 days of the season with honours absolutely even. 

Not quite cats and dogs falling from the sky but surely we are only moments away from this being called off for the day. Very wet indeed now!

Notts announce that Karl Turner and Scott Elstone will not be offered new deals at Trent Bridge for next season. Turner made a handful of championship appearances at the end of 2011 whilst Elstone has yet to make his fc debut.

The weather has really filled in around Trent Bridge again - prospects of a restart fading with time slipping away.

Notts reach lunch on 28-0 in their second inns, a deficit of just 21, with Sam Kelsall on 10 and Neil Edwards on 11. Earlier Warwicks were bowled out for 204, with both Blackwell and Clarke falling for 37 today and Andy Carter finishing with 4-55

Warwicks are all out for 204, a first inns lead of 49 as Jeetan Patel skies Paul Franks and Neil Edwards catches in the gully. Two completed inns already and Franks score of 44 remains the highest.

An intersting duel between Andy Carter and Chris Wright ends when the batsman edges Franks thro to Read. Carter had struck Wright in the chest, much in the same way that Wright had inflicted similar damage in their meeting yesterday. Warwicks are 178-9

Rikki Clarke does a Darren Maddy ie doesn't play a shot to Andy Carter and loses his off stump for 37 - Warwicks are 173-8, lead of 18 runs

Trying to drive off the back foot Ian Blackwell is sharply taken at second slip by Steven Mullaney for 37. It's Ben Phillips third wicket of the innings and Warwicks are 162-7.

Warwickshire now have the overall lead in the match, having gone past Notts 155ao. Ian Blackwell has 37* Rikki Clarke is on 34* and thre pair have added 72, the highest stand of the match. Warwicks 162-6.

Good morning from Trent Bridge. Weather-wise mixed start to the day and forecast for the same - might have to dodge a shower or two. 16 wkts fell on the opening day here and Warwicks clearly still hope to earn a days rest before their CB40 Final on Sat.
