Kane Williamson has a back problem

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson may not be fit enough to feature in his country's T20 international clash with England on Tuesday.

The batsman has revealed he has a minor back problem which could yet rule him out of the match in Wellington.

Henry Nicholls has been drafted into the Blackcaps' squad as cover, with Williamson speaking about the issue on Monday.

"I've got a few niggles, a little bit of niggling in my back... Henry is in as cover for those reasons," he said.

"I'm looking forward to taking a full part in training and hope I should be fit for tomorrow."

With England skipper Eoin Morgan also struggling with a groin injury, both teams could be without their leaders for a game they each need to win.

Australia have beaten New Zealand once and England twice to book their place in the Trans-Tasman Tri Series final with a game to spare, leaving the remaining two sides to fight it out for the right to face them.

"It's a big opportunity for us and for England," Williamson said.

"We want to get on the board in the tri-series and it's very important we play good cricket.

"We know England are a dangerous side; Australia have got off to a great start and come up with the wins but that doesn't make England any less dangerous."
