The Test - the second of the summer series against the Indians - is due to start on Thursday, August 9. Stokes will therefore not be available for selection.
Stokes's affray trial will begin on August 6
The England allrounder faces the charge following his arrest in Bristol in September after an altercation outside a nightclub in the Clifton Triangle.
A 27-year-old man was allegedly left with a broken eye socket as a result of the incident.
Stokes appeared via video-link from New Zealand on Monday to confirm his name, nationality and date of birth to the court.
He will stand trial alongside co-defendants Ryan Hale and Ryan Ali.
All three men pleaded not guilty.
