England have called up Jake Ball to the ODI squad
Jake Ball has been added to England's squad for the one-day international series with Australia after Chris Woakes was diagnosed with a quad strain.
Ball, who has taken 21 wickets in 17 ODIs for his country, fills in for Woakes for at least the "first part" of the five-match series, according to the ECB.
Woakes still stands a chance of recovering in time to play some part against Australia. The first match is scheduled for the Kia Oval on June 13.
Chris Woakes has a quad strain
He is the second England casualty, after Ben Stokes was ruled out with a torn hamstring in his left leg.
Ball, meanwhile, started the season in excellent form with the red ball for Nottinghamshire.
He has since taken eight wickets during his country's Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, averaging 31.62 in 50-over cricket this summer.
