    Broad graduates with more honours

Stuart Broad became only the seventh player to write his name on both the batting and bowling honours boards at Lord’s, as he helped keep West Indies in check on the first day of the first Test with figures of 6 for 72. .. More

WICKET - England v West Indies

A brilliant catch from Prior leaves West Indies nine-down overnight! A poke outside off from Edwards, and a one-handed snaffle in front of first slip to give Broad his sixth wicket of a day's work that got better with every spell. 243 for 9 at the close

WICKET - England v West Indies

Plop! A full length delivery, dug out by Kemar Roach in such a fashion that it lobbed back to The Cricketer's cover star, Stuart Broad, who now has five wickets!

WICKET - England v West Indies

Sammy falls for 17, turned inside out on a leg glance and somehow caught in the gully. Earlier in the over, Chanderpaul survived a second opinion as Broad seamed one into his pads. The replay suggests the ball pitched just outside leg.

    The Analyst - Simon Hughes

West Indies have shown more resilience than was expected, but a score of 270-ish is going to be below par. Little in the wicket. I think England will get 450

    197 for 6 - England v West Indies

All sorts of chatter at the moment about Chris Gayle's exploits in the IPL today. He has made 128 from 62 balls against Delhi. It is a world away from Lord's

WICKET - England v West Indies

That's Broad's length, full length, targetting top of off, a simple snick to first slip where Strauss - who's shelled a few for Middlesex this season - makes no mistake. 187 for 6, and suddenly England are in command

WICKET - England v West Indies

Loose and wafty from Samuels, and there's the breakthrough! A full-length outswinger, scooped to point where Jonny Bairstow makes his first notable contribution as a Test cricketer. Another major lapse of concentration in an otherwise disciplined day's work

    The Analyst - Simon Hughes

Chanderpaul was very quick to put his bat back in before the Bravo run out. Chanderpaul has been run out just three times in Tests. In the same period West Indies have lost 93 wickets to run-outs.

TEA - England v West Indies

West Indies have nurdled along to 146 for 4, and yep, you guessed it, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Mr #1 in the world, and subject of a Tony Cozier interview in the latest issue of The Cricketer, is 42 not out.

    127 for 4 - England v West Indies

A peaceful spell of consolidation for West Indies. Chanderpaul is 32 not out, Marlon Samuels is on 6, and they've added 27 runs in roughly an hour. Trott is limbering up, which gives you an idea of how the session is going

REVIEW - England v West Indies

Nearly the big breakthrough for England, as Anderson - from round the wicket - swings one back into Chanderpaul's pads as he offers no shot. He thought long and hard about the review, but in the end it was just missing off

WICKET - England v West Indies

Comedy of errors, but the biggest belongs to Bravo! A flick off the hip from Chanderpaul, a dummy is sold to his partner, and Swann has to dive full-stretch to gather a wild shy from Prior - who has the good grace to cover his face in embarrassment
  • 14:28
    The Analyst - Simon Hughes

People often wonder about england fielding only 4 bowlers. But Anderson is once again demonstrating that he is 3 bowlers in one. Swinger with the new ball, then probing seamer, now operating round the wicket to the left handers like a left arm over bowler

DROPPED - England v West Indies

A loose prod outside off, a flying edge into Graeme Swann's breadbasket, and straight out again! Bravo gets a let-off, and Anderson is denied his third
  • 13:59
WICKET - England v West Indies

Great work in the gully from Jimmy Anderson, who parries a wild slash from Adrian Barath and composes himself to cling onto the rebound. Moments earlier, Broad went up for a review for lbw, but ended up giving away a run for a no-ball

Lunch - England v West Indies

Barath and Bravo have done well for West Indies. A fifty-run stand from 80 balls to loosen England's early stranglehold on the run-rate. They'll enjoy their scoff at 83 for 2

WICKET - England v West Indies

Full length from Anderson, tailing into the pads, Edwards wafts across the line but makes no contact, and he's on his way for 1, without reviewing. Due reward for some fine probing bowling at the Pavilion End.
  • 11:56
    England v West Indies - 25 for 1

Diligent work from Barath, who punches Anderson up to the pavilion boundary to move to 17. Frugal from England, but lacking a touch in penetration. Bressie, Mr 100% Win, replaces Broad at the Nursery End

England - England v West Indies

After more than half an hour without a rotation of strike, Powell finally faces up to Anderson and is bowled by a beauty that swung in after the rest in the over had gone away. A sucker dismissal perfectly called by our new columnist @selvecricket

England - England v West Indies

So far some encouraging signs of swing for England's bowlers, but Barath's cover drive has been in fine fettle. Two attacking strokes, two fours, and that is the sum total of the West Indies' score

    Warwickshire v Lancashire

Play to start at 11.15am at Edgbaston
  • 11:04
    Leicestershire v Essex

Play underway on time but a bit of drizzle in the air. hopefully  it will move away. Four runs to Ned Eckersley off masters down the leg side in the first over.

England - England v West Indies

Here come the umpires. And the teams close behind. It seems to be brightening up now, which is encouraging for the batsman. A tough session ahead for them though. These are still conditions England would expect to thrive in

England - England v West Indies

Pitch looks flat have had a look. England fancy making 400 when it's their turn. Expect them to bowl windies out for 260.
  • 10:37
England - England v West Indies

As expected, there's a debut for Johnny Bairstow, as England win the toss and bowl first on a cool and cloudy day at Lord's. They always say look up, not down on this ground, and Andrew Strauss had no qualms. Bresnan wins the race for the third seamer slot
